The J1 Visa Program for Teachers is a U.S. government-sponsored initiative designed to bring international educators to the United States for a unique cultural exchange experience. Through this program, qualified teachers have the opportunity to teach in U.S. schools, share their expertise, and immerse themselves in the American educational system while learning about U.S. culture.
Teachers participating in the J1 Visa Program will:
Teach in U.S. Schools: Share your knowledge and teaching skills with American students, from elementary through high school levels, while gaining valuable insights into teaching methods and classroom practices in the U.S.
Cultural Exchange: Engage in cultural exchange activities, experiencing everyday life in the U.S., and building lasting relationships with your students and colleagues.
Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching skills, collaborate with U.S. educators, and grow in your career.
Support & Community: Work in a supportive environment that fosters collaboration and learning while adapting to diverse educational settings.

Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
Transcript of Records (TOR) showing completion of degree.
Teaching Experience
Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience (some districts may require more).
Experience in teaching relevant grade levels or subjects.
Licensure / Certification
Valid teaching license or certificate from the Philippines (PRC License preferred).
Willingness to obtain a U.S. state teaching license.
Language Proficiency
Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).
Some districts may require a standardized English proficiency test.
Age Requirement
Typically between 21–55 years old (depending on the program).
Health and Background Checks
Must pass medical and physical health examinations (OPTIONAL)
Clear criminal background check and child protection clearances.
Cultural Adaptability
Willingness to participate in cultural exchange programs.
Openness to working in diverse U.S. classroom environments.
Visa Eligibility
Ability to meet J-1 Visa requirements (or other applicable work visas).
Commitment to return to the Philippines after program completion, if required.
Document Readiness
Updated resume/CV tailored to U.S. schools.
Cover letter aligned with U.S. application standards.
Copies of valid passport and other identification documents.
Professional References
Minimum of 2–3 professional references from previous schools or supervisors.
FCE – Foreign Credential Evaluation - Required to validate your educational qualifications.
